The theming industry is constantly innovating due to the fast changes in technology and consumer tastes. Designers and developers of theme parks and amusement parks must be aware of the latest developments and trends and adapt their projects.

In this blog we will discuss about the latest’s trends that will make their mark in 2024.

Mobile applications and user experience trends

The user experience is key when it comes to offering unforgettable moments to customers. One of the problems experienced by the majority of park visitors is the long wait in queues.

This is why the first trend in the coming years that many parks are currently implementing is the improvement of the experience, reducing discomfort and waiting time to a minimum. This is being implemented through apps that provide real-time information on wait times, show schedules and popular attractions, as well as other useful features such as restaurant reservations, ticket purchases and access to interactive maps.

Microparks

Micro parks represent the latest trend in the themed amusement park industry, enabling the consolidation of numerous attractions and entertainment options within a significantly smaller space compared to conventional parks.

This trend allows bringing the park experience and adventure to smaller cities and a much larger number of consumers.

The newest example of this development is the Peppa Pig Theme Park in Winter Haven, Florida that will open its doors in 2024. Its main feature is that it will be only 4 1/2 acres.

Interactivity

The fast development of technologies in recent years has allowed the incorporation of elements such as Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in attractions and parks.

VR headsets enable immersive experiences such as virtual roller coaster rides, while AR introduces digital overlays to real park environments and elements. As VR/AR technology advances, it is poised to assume a more substantial role in crafting hybrid park experiences that seamlessly blend the physical and digital realms.

This type of element, although already being incorporated in some spaces, will be a growing trend in the coming years.

Immersion

Many of the traditional parks are characterized by having a main theme, around which the decoration is built. And, even if the decoration revolves around the main theme, consumers expect to find a fully immersive experience.

Employing a powerful brand to establish a distinct sense of location, wherein guests, upon entering the environment, genuinely feel immersed as if transported to a enchanting destination, can deliver a one-of-a-kind sensation.

One example of this trend that will come on strong is the Avengers Campus at Disney, which allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the world of Marvel’s superheroes.

Artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence is being seamlessly integrated into our daily lives and the leisure industry is not lagging behind when it comes to experimenting with this novelty.

In the case of theme parks, one of the ways to integrate artificial intelligence is to create personalized rides and adventures, where each visitor can decide what the story of their attraction will be like.

This trend, although it may seem a long way off, is likely to develop rapidly in the coming years, creating a new vision of the parks we are all used to.
